Phentermine is commonly prescribed during the hCG diet as an appetite suppressant in case of rampant hunger. Here is what you should know before you consider taking it.

There really is no good reason to take this drug if you feel hungry while on the hCG diet. Phentermine is harmful and its effects wear off with overuse (whatever THAT is), which causes yo-yo weight gain. The ‘best’ clinical research on phentermine involved its use in Phen-Fen, combined with fenfluramine. Fen-Phen was taken off the market when it became obvious how dangerous it was.
These are basically the same comments that I have posted here on my diet pills blog (Phentermine Reviews – Avoid It). However, I think it is important to call it to the attention of folks doing the hCG diet because this FDA-approved prescription weight loss drug is so widely used during the hCG protocol.
One drawback for hCG dieters in suppressing hunger is that hunger is an indicator of resistance to hCG. Or, in the case of homeopathic hCG, hunger indicates the absence of the hormone signaling pathway completely. In either case, you may lose weight, just not abnormal fat.
Other objections to taking phentermine apply to hCG dieters and non-HCG dieters alike. Take a look at the summary of details about this drug from phentermine on Wikipedia:

The chemistry and pharmacology of phentermine are similar to those of amphetamine. It should be an option of last resort on the hCG diet.
